Smells like winter

A breeze of cool air, leaves lay on the ground ready to make a crunching sound and the sun setting a little early than usual. It seems that winter is around the corner [I hope!] Karachi hardly sees any winter, with the scorching heat and humidity around more than nine months, karachiites are bound to pray for rain or even cool air for that matter!

I personally love the rain and when everyone is fed up with the unusual rainy days I secretly wish it would last longer stretching over a month, to say the least. Even though we start facing electricity breakdowns and traffic jams lets not forget the feeling of the rain drops on one’s face which are so relaxing and refreshing. Ah! Can’t wait for winters when we might just have a little downpour.

For now lets bear the heat and keep our hopes high!

Hona tha Pyar, hoa meray yaar..

Ah! Its finally here! The first glimpse of the much awaited film ‘Bol’ is here with its first track  “Hona tha pyar” sung by the soulful Atif Aslam of course , who is also playing the lead role in the film.

Bol : Hit or miss?

Bol will be Shoaib Mansoor’s second film after the very successful  “Khuda Kay liye”.  Starring the singing sensational Atif Aslam and the beautiful  Vj Mahira Khan the film is expected to  create waves and hopefully will lead the way for many more ventures of such sort.

Hadiqa Kiyani

Both these celebs have already established themselves as ‘ icons ‘ for the youth. With Atif Aslam’s immeasurable success in India, singing one hit number after another such as ‘ Tera Hone Laga Ho’ for Ajab Prem ki Gazab Kahani. Mahira Khan on the other hand received instant appraisal upon entering the media through MTV’s Most Wanted Show. This film has brought two fresh and most talked about faces. All that is left to see is that whether they can go beyond their comfort levels and make it a huge success!

Iman Ali

Regarding the film it is also believed that Iman Ali who was the lead actress of Khuda kay liye will also be seen in the film along with Hadiqa Kiyani and Umamah Abbasi doing a cameo. The film is expected to release in October 2010.   Here’s hoping that the film is a huge success and is able to attract the audiences!

Laugh away Stress!

Stress! A word that I’m sure everyone is familiar with very well! I feel that nowadays everyone feels pressurized by either their work, their lifestyle, some by their families and others by responsibilities, obligations and expectations.I feel that competition is one thing that has led to this, I mean people want the biggest house in Defence, the 2010 model of Civic, the latest Ipad or just simply branded clothes. Its more like bigger is better or the more you pay for it the better the thing is, which is not true. This constant race of acquiring the latest thing first has made our lives stressful. For some it’s not that but the struggle to survive  leads to a stressful life, inflation, unemployment and the fact that in many houses even today there is just one sole bread-winner who has to feel a large family.

Anyways whatever the reasons are I wish people wouldn’t take life too seriously and enjoy the journey that life has to offer. For now here are some *hilarious* clips from the show ‘The real news’ its Saad Haroon’s creation! Awesome stress buster!

Are you saying too much?

Hey Guys! It’s been days since I’ve posted something..sorry! I’m so busy with school work. Anyways I’m back with a new post which I hope you’ll find interesting!

Did you know that 55% of your communication is done through your Body language which means that without saying anything, you may be conveying more than enough for others to judge! Body language consists of signals and postures and if understood and read correctly they will take you a long way. Our brains are programmed to read each other’s body language and people around you are perceiving so much by observing. I found these 7 ways to understand other people’s body language on the web, read on to find out!

1.Pay attention to how close someone is to you.

The closer they are, the warmer their opinions are of you. The farther away that someone is, the less they actually care of the situation or person. If you move slightly closer to them, do they move slightly further away? That means they don’t want your interaction to be any more personal than it already is. If they don’t move further away, then they are receptive. And if they respond by getting even closer to you, they probably really like you or are very comfortable around/by you.

2.Watch their head position.

Overly tilted heads are either a potential sign of sympathy, or if a person smiles while tilting their head, they are being playful and maybe even flirting.

Lowered heads indicate a reason to hide something. Take note if someone lowers their head. If it is when he is complimented, he may be shy, ashamed, timid, keeping distance from the other person, in disbelief, or thinking to himself. If it is after an explanation, then he may be unsure if what he said was correct.

Cocked heads mean that they are confused or challenging you, depending on eye, eyebrow, and mouth gestures. Think of how a dog slightly cocks its head when you make a funny noise.

3.Look into their eyes.

People who look to the sides a lot are nervous, lying, or distracted. However, if a person looks away from the speaker, it very well could be a comfort display or indicate submissiveness. Looking askance generally means the person is distrustful or unconvinced. If someone looks down at the floor a lot, they are probably shy or timid.

4.See if they’re mirroring you.

Mirroring is another common gesture. If someone mirrors, or mimics your appearance, this is a very genuine sign that they are interested in you and trying to establish rapport with you. Try changing your body position here and there. If you find that they change theirs similarly, they are mirroring.

5.Check their arms.

People with crossed arms are closing themselves to social influence. Though some people just cross their arms as a habit, it may indicate that the person is (slightly) reserved, uncomfortable with their weight (therefore trying to hide it), or just trying to hide something on their shirt. If their arms are crossed while their feet are shoulder width or wider apart, this is a position of toughness or authority.

If someone rests their arms behind their neck or head, they are open to what is being discussed or just laid back in general. If their hands are on their hips, they might be waiting or impatient.

6.Be aware of nervous gestures.

If someone brushes their hair back with their fingers, this may be preening, a common gesture if the person likes you, or their thoughts about something conflict with yours. They might not voice this. If you see raised eyebrows during this time, you can be pretty sure that they disagree with you.

If the person wears glasses, and is constantly pushing them up onto their nose again, with a slight frown, that may also indicate they disagree with what you are saying. Look to make sure they push up their glasses with an intent, not casually adjusting them. Look for pushing on the rim with two fingers, or an extra motion of wiggling the side of their glasses. The frown or raised eyebrows should tip you off.

Lowered eyebrows and squinted eyes illustrate an attempt at understanding what is being said or going on. It’s usually skeptical. This is presuming they are not trying to observe something that’s far away.

7.Watch their feet.

A fast tapping, shifting of weight, laughing, or movement of the foot will most often mean that the person is impatient, excited, nervous, scared, or intimidated.

If the person is sitting, feet crossed at the ankles means they’re generally at ease.If while standing, a person seems to always keep their feet very close together, it probably means they are trying to be “proper” in some way.If they purposely touch their feet to yours, they are flirting!

So that’s it! I hope you enjoyed learning some tricks and trades to understand people better and communicate effectively. Do give your feedback. Adios!

Hey guys! It’s the start of a new month, probably not exciting for many. But to me its more of an achievement sort of thing as my blog has survived Sep! I’ve somehow felt the need to be really formal and serious in my posts but figured that is probably too much to take on by some and just plain boring for some. And  I had to perfectly construct the posts and stuff. SO I’ve decided on officially begin my *Ramblings* category.Basically It’ll be about anything to everything in a very casual way.Mostly it’ll help me to connect more often and post more often! Yay!

At this very moment I’m fretting over the essays that I have to write. Also because our ex-president is on TV. I still haven’t figured the reason, will do in a while. I hope he isn’t bashing the present government because that wouldn’t make him memorable. You see everyone is up to that!

Other than that , I’ve heard about all the latest films being screened on our cineplexes. You probably knew that and so you also know that their pricing isn’t fair. I mean the packet of chips that has existed for centuries and is also the cheapest is for Rs50! I mean seriously I know that whoever is going there can afford to pay so but dude having a profit margin of 100% isn’t really it?

Thats all for now folks! Adios!
